MultiCaf’s Mission:

• To offer meals and a food bank service to people of low-income
living in the Côte-des-Neiges/Snowdon area.

• To develop and provide opportunities for skill development and
social integration for people of low-income.

• Defend the rights of less privileged people and to raise awareness
in the community with regards to issues linked to poverty.

 

A brief introduction to MultiCaf:

Founded in 1986, MultiCaf was born out of the belief that Côte-des-Neiges needed an organization that could help feed its less fortunate residents. Twenty years later and MultiCaf has grown into a thriving community cafeteria that serves over 260 lunches a day (as well as a free breakfast). Our food bank currently offers assistance to over 750 families a month (in the form of food baskets).

The founding members felt that the numerous problems associated with poverty required that the organization do more to help its members, thus MultiCaf’s mission extends beyond food security. MultiCaf has become a meeting place where those in need can find support and, together, work towards social change and a just society. Our organization offers an important program of complementary activities such as a monthly newsletter (written by our members), workshops on nutrition and other topics of interest, as well as educational and leisure activities.

 

The staff of MultiCaf form a strong and committed team. Their desire is to offer MultiCaf members the best service possible through the various programs that have been developed over the years. Regardless of the service or program offered, from welcoming new immigrants, to listening, to providing referrals, our aim is to treat each person with dignity and respect. In addition to providing food services , the staff strive to make MultiCaf a warm and friendly environment where everyone feels welcome.
